22nd of the Month of Swords

The statue of the Pentacade stands at the heart of Aveum, rising up impossibly from the bottomless Wound to watch us all. No one exactly knows why. It's been around forever, maybe even longer. The magni call it the Five-Faced King of Magic and every kingdom swears it favors them to win the Everwar. It's pretty convenient that the Pentacade never speaks or one of them might get caught in a lie.

After Sandrakk absorbed the leyline in the Pale Forest, I shunted over to the Shrouded Realm. Turns out, a for real version of the Pentacade that lives there. I think it tried to tell me something before I returned to Aveum. Or maybe it was just annoyed I was there and sent me on my way.

I found depictions of the Pentacade in an Aelori temple. (At least I think it's a temple.) It feels odd to me that the magic-eaters would revere the King of Magic so much. Magni history has never mentioned this, but then information on the Aelori is largely lost.

Sandrakk believes that the Pentacade needs to die to save Aveum from the Mala-Dar. He regards the Pentacade as some kind of wrathful god, jealous of the magni's ability to use magic. That the Mala-Dar is its final judgment. I can't believe that Kirkan thinks killing the Pentacade is the right thing to do, too.

Everyone is saying the Pentacade restored me back to life after I exploded. (They don't really give any details on the how.) Except the Pentacade, who doesn't talk that much at all, anyway. I guess it has to be true, though, right? How else would I be here? It's a legitimate miracle. And the weird thing you find out? When a legitimate miracle happens, people don't poke at it too much to figure out how it did.
