Magic is a part of all of our lives. Some of us can wield a little bit of it, others own an enchanted item or two to make their lives easier. But the Magni are something else entirely. They are the most powerful magic users of Aveum, and the main weapons in the Everwar. Most are born with their magic powers, which usually leads to a life of wealth and privilege, unless they get killed first on the frontlines. Seems like a raw deal.

Magic causes the Wound-- that's the secret that the magni orders have kept from the lightless since... well, since forever. Now we know that the Aelori can prevent that from happening. That they can show us a process whereby magic can be used without causing corruption. The dynastic houses outside of Kalthus, though... with their fear and hatred so ingrained, will they actually agree to change their traditions and make peace with the Aelori for the good of Aveum? Sounds reasonable, right? But how often can mankind be counted on to do the reasonable thing?
