Jak is the main character of Immortals of Aveum. Born in Seren and initially unwilling to fight in the Everwar, he decides to join up after Seren becomes the "epicenter of a Rasharnian attack." [1] Jak's magical abilities were also unlocked during that attack.
The official EA website [2] describes him as:
Having grown up powerless and destitute on the streets of Seren, Jak is what’s known as an Unforeseen – someone who unexpectedly manifests magical abilities later in life. Despite the ire and distrust from Magni with noble lineages, Jak is recruited into the Immortals by Lucium’s Grand Magnus Kirkan. With his newfound potential, Jak is reluctantly thrust into mankind’s endless war for the control of magic. Though hot-tempered and hellbent on proving himself, Jak must face a path of great adventure and responsibility.
